2018 Show Bike

£6,500.00

Inspired by Rossin Olympic track bikes of the 1980’s. The idea was to take the principal of a webbed frame construction to a new level incorporating Demon’s unique Art-Deco style. The result is something truly special.

This sparkling glitter rocket certainly caused a stir at the UK Handmade Bike show in April. It left people in shock and awe. Whilst there, it won several awards; Peoples Choice Award, Peer Award, Cyclist Magazine Award and an honorable mention for Best in Show.

Along with the bike the new owner will also receive photographic copies of the award rosettes. If you collect in person you can also expect to receive a fist bump and a crisp high-five.

Description

The frame has a 55cm seat tube and top tube (measured from centre to centre). The geometry is for road use with a slightly higher bottom bracket for better pedal to ground clearance when cornering. The frame is constructed by fillet brazing, first with brass to join the tubing and then with silver to join the webbing to the tubing. In total there is more than 1.6 meters of brazing all of which has been painstakingly smoothed and polished for seamless joints.

The chosen tubing was Reynolds 853 for both the frame and the special aero shaped fork blades. The webbed plates and dropouts are CNC machined from 4130 Cro-Moly plate in the Demon workshop. The fork crown is investment cast to very high tolerances and is unique to Demon.

The paint is Root Beer Brown Candy and Gold over coarse metal flake. It was inspired by a custom Japanese motorcycle helmet.

The parts were very carefully selected to work well together. Some of which are rather hard to come by.

Please note that the bike is fixed gear only.
